Noel’s Miracle – G. Philip Ungricht

“Noel’s Miracle” written by an acquaintance of mine, G. Philip Ungricht is a heartwarming story, but lacks a certain degree of believability. This is the story of a man who loves Christmas and the story of Jesus Christ’s birth that it represents, and how his passion for Christmas changes the lives of those around him, especially the life of his treating physician. While I enjoyed this book (and laughed & cried while reading it), the story had several areas that needed refining as the believability of the story. Also, the occasional richness of the medical terminology, though adding to the authenticity of the storyline, actually detracted from the book, making it feel like we’d briefly stepped into a prime time medical drama rather than advancing the plot. Ungricht’s work, “Noel’s Miracle”, being only 163 reasonably-large-print pages, is a story worth taking the time to read, but it could use some further refinement for it to reach its potential of being a story you want to read every Christmas.
